Research by Ariel J. Feldman, J. Alex Halderman, and Edward W. Felten
See http://itpolicy.princeton.edu/voting/ for full research, FAQ, and other info.
Abstract: This paper presents a fully independent security study of a Diebold AccuVote-TS voting machine, including its hardware and software. We obtained the machine from a private party. Analysis of the machine, in light of real election procedures, shows that it is vulnerable to extremely serious attacks. For example, an attacker who gets physical access to a machine or its removable memory card for as little as one minute could install malicious code; malicious code on a machine could steal votes undetectably, modifying all records, logs, and counters to be consistent with the fraudulent vote count it creates. An attacker could also create malicious code that spreads automatically and silently from machine to machine during normal election activities — a voting-machine virus. We have constructed working demonstrations of these attacks in our lab. Mitigating these threats will require changes to the voting machine’s hardware and software and the adoption of more rigorous election procedures.

Payday loan offices have been sprouting up across the country for decades. In these hard times, more people than ever are using payday loans to keep bill collectors at bay. Quick money, at interest rates of around 500% or more, for people with bad credit has been praised by some as a lifeline for the poor, but condemned by others as a trap to keep families in debt. Recently some states have passed laws limiting interest rates, but there is one marketplace that knows no borders — the Internet.
ANP visited a conference where online payday-lending lobbyists urged congress to reject reform, and then traveled to a small town near the Virginia-North Carolina border to learn about the experiences of a man who googled “bad credit loans” and found himself in more trouble than he bargained for.

Paypal has an ongoing glitch. Looks like it might be the work of disgruntled employees. Whatever the cause, Paypal is scammming & lying to it’s users.
Time to complain to the government and have this looked into.

“My neighbor has a nephew that was working for Paypal and he says that there is a rumor in the offices that some recently layed off IT specialists and SAP programmers reportedly implanted malicious ”bot” code into the operating software. So after some of the systems began involuntary shutdown, they went to a back up shadow system and have been having integrated server problems ever since. They suspect there are many more software booby traps planted by the recently laid off programmers to wreac havoc over the holidays. That’s all I’ve heard for now.”

Princeton researchers have shown how a criminal can steal an election undetected, using an actual Diebold voting machine.
This project was created by Ariel J. Feldman, J. Alex Halderman, and Edward W. Felten, who write: “Anyone who has physical access to a voting machine, or to a memory card that will later be inserted into a machine, can install said Malicious Software using a simple method that takes as little as one minute. In practice, poll workers and others often have unsupervised access to the machines.”
Even more frightening, you only have to access one machine. A computer virus can be implanted in only one machine and spread undetected.
Do we want to trust our elections to machines that can be hacked without a trace in less than one minute?

Every hour one person becomes a victim of identity theft or fraud in Canada.
It is so easy to commit fraud with stolen mail, Canada post is sloppy with protection against mail theft and they really don’t care. It is one of the fastest growing crimes in Canada, identity theft occurs when someone steals your name and other personal information with the intention of uming your identity to gain access to your finances, make purchases and incur debts in your name, or commit other crimes. They are not engaged in the fight against identity theft, and are not cooperating with US authority to catch these thieves.
Crook’s and international criminals find this the easiest country to for living large at the expense of others. Once this information is stolen, it can be used to finance spending sprees and open new bank accounts, or to redirect your mail and apply for loans, credit cards and social benefits and the list goes on. In the United States there have been measures taken to fight this problem, including laws and Post office special crimes investigation officers.
Punishment for this crime against fraud and identity theft committed through stolen mail in canada is a slap on the back of the hand!

Many viruses today try to interfere with the downloading of windows security updates and the installation of anti-virus and anti-malware software. They are designed to interfere with the internet connection. They can block updates, thus making the anti-malware or anti-virus software almost useless. Some of the viruses are so sophisticated that they can render the new software ineffective during the download and installation process, before you ever get a chance to run the first scan. This makes the virus or Malicious Software very difficult to remove. More malware can download onto your computer while you are running scans to remove it!
You will need to learn how to run your computer in the “Safe Mode with Networking” to update your software and remove a bad virus infection.

A proactive way to prevent identity theft is to freeze your credit file with the three credit reporting bureaus, Equifax, TransUnion and Experian. Freezing your credit file means no one can open a new account. It does not close your exisitng lines of credit, but it means that no one can open a new credit account or line of credit. If you’re young and trying to open lines of credit to establish your credit history you probably don’t want to freeze your credit file. However, seniors who don’t need to open more lines of credit and maybe have paid off their mortgage can consider freezing their credit to prevent possible identity theft. Also, consider freezing your credit if you think your personal information was compromised and you’re at risk for identity theft.

IDENTITY THEFT PREVENTION: How to prevent ID Theft with nothing but your telephone.
Listen. You don’t need identity theft insurance. It’s a joke. Have you ever read the guarantees on those things? Has more holes in it than swiss cheese.
All they’re doing is charging you to do what you can do yourself. We’re not talking about you doing your own root canal here. Were talking about making a some phone calls… and then setting a reminder on outlook express to make 1 phone call every 90 days. It’s a joke. You don’t need to pay $150 a year (or more) for Identity Theft Insurance. Well, maybe you do, if you want to support someone in an MLM or Network Marketing Company (maybe).
Hey, I’ve bought crazy juices, vitamins even a dumb water filter just to get my friends to quit bugging me about their MLM opportunities before. I admit it! There you go. But when it comes to ID THEFT PREVENTION, that’s different.
You can do it better yourself. Just watch BOTH videos parts 1 and 2. Together they are worth a couple hundred bucks. No kidding!
Listen. You’re going to learn how to get your credit reports not once a year but twice a year - FOR FREE! Not only that. No one is going to be able to get approved for ANY credit ANYWHERE without the creditor first calling you at the telephone number on your credit report! How you like them apples? and… were just getting started.
You’re also going to learn how to protect yourself from all the people (like in hospitals in dental offices) who have your Social Security Number (SSN) and your Date of Birth (DOB) not too mention your address and phone number and drivers licenses number….
Listen… this is worth your time. be sure to watch part 1 and part 2. The Identity you save could be your own! And while you;re at it please RATE THIS VIDEO and share it with others. They’ll appreciate it and you might even get some GOOD KARMA points to boot!
Thank for your support. It is appreciated.
